2018 Scholarship Recipients

Scholarships Requirements

Somerset County 4-H Association: Deadline April 2.

Selected scholarship recipients will receive a one-time grant of $1500.00 provided that they have been accepted for a regular course of study or are currently a student attending a college, technical or vocational school.  Somerset County 4-H Members in 12th and 13th grades are eligible. The scholarship will be awarded over the course of two years (year 1: $1,000 & year 2: $500.00).

Alpaca: Deadline April 2

Scholarship recipient will receive a grant of $1,000 provided that they will be attending a college or university in a science field.

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in a field of study in any science department
  • Be currently involved in a 4-H program
  • A letter of recommendation from an adult currently active in the Somerset County 4- H Program

Criteria:

  • Show All Participation, Achievement and Contributions to the 4-H Program
  • Demonstrate an interest in science
  • Demonstrate personal growth and character development in 4-H

Rob Fellows: Deadline April 2.

Scholarship recipient will receive a grant of $1,000 provided that they have been accepted for a regular course of study at a college or technical school.

Requirements:

  • Be a graduating high school student with an interest in a career in science
  • Is a current member in good standing with a Somerset County 4-H Club
  • A letter of recommendation from two different adults currently active in the Somerset

Criteria:

  • Show All Participation, Achievement and Contributions to the 4-H Program
  • Demonstrate an interest in the sciences
  • Demonstrate personal growth and character development in 4-H

4-H Trainmasters: Deadline April 2.

Scholarship recipient will receive a grant of $1000 provided that they have been accepted for a regular course of study at a college or technical school.

Requirements:

  • Be a graduating high school student with an interest in a career in science

 4-H Prep: Deadline April 2.

Scholarship Recipients will receive a one-time grant of $1,000 provided that they have been accepted for a regular course of study or are currently a student attending a college, technical or vocational school. Prior Somerset County 4-H Prep members in 12 & 13 grades are eligible.

Requirements:

  • Be a graduating high school senior or 13th grade student
  • Is a current member in good standing with a Somerset County 4-H Club
  •  A letter of recommendation from an adult currently active in the Somerset County 4-H Program
  • Be a Somerset County 4-H Prep Alumni

Criteria:

  •  Give back to the Somerset County 4-H Prep Division
  •  4-H Participation and Achievement
  •  Demonstrated Mentoring Relationship with 4-H members
  • Contribution to the 4-H Program
  • Demonstrated Personal Growth and Character Development throughout 4-H Career

 Joseph J. and Florence E. Klimas: Deadline March 31.

A one- time grant of $1,000 awarded to a former Somerset County 4-H member, entering his/her junior or senior year in college, having declared Education as a major.

Edward Rosania, William B. Staats and Peter Smith Memorial ScholarshipDeadline July 15

The purpose of this scholarship is to perpetuate the memory and spirit of Edward Rosania, William B. Staats, and Peter Smith by the encouragement and promotion of agricultural endeavors. Scholarship recipient $3,000.00 across 4 years ($500 each freshman and sophomore year, $1,000 each Jr. and Sr. year). the award will be presented to the recipient(s) at the Somerset County 4-H Fair.
